Cabinet Maker and Wood sculptor
Mike's story, "Towards te end of a professional career I decided to return to something I had always been interested in - woodwork. With my and wife's encouragement I took an "Advanced Furniture Construction" course at Suffolk College. That was some twenty-five years ago. Since then I have been making furniture to my own designs as well as commissioned pieces. These are all made in hardwoods from around the world, although ecological factors must now be taken into account.
Although I do not have a website, if you are interested in having a piece of furniture made please get in touch; you will be able to look at my portfolio and visit the workshop at my home"
Mike is supplying the craft centre with these unique door wedges. Very useful for propping open those doors which swing shut unexpectedly. Not to be confused with door stops, they are lightweight and made in either one type of wood or two with an outside layer in a contrasting wood.
They are of course a unique species to Suffolk, being of the prized genus "Suffolk long-tailed door wedge".
He has also been prevailed upon to supply us with elegant wood busness card holders. A simple but sturdy design, these are guaranteed to showcase your business cards in a professional manner.
Mike has supplied us with one of his new sculptures, entitled "Curlews", mounted on driftwood thrown up onto Thorpeness beach during "The Beast from the East". See below for an image and more details.
